Case Study shows a 91% revenue increase in switching from Tier 1 PPC provider to MDE
After announcing the launch of its Monetization Decision Engine (MDE) on the DomainPower platform in early March, Domain Holdings has published a case study to illustrate the revenue increase the MDE provides domain owners. Over two separate 30-day periods, the case study compared a domain portfolio’s revenue earnings using a Tier 1 PPC provider to those of the MDE. Results revealed a 91% revenue increase in favor of the MDE.
The MDE routes domain traffic amongst 31 monetization partners. It uses historical data of similar domains to predict where a domain will earn the highest yield, and directs the domain’s traffic accordingly. Over time, the MDE increases revenue further by performing continuous testing and optimization.
“This study was the test we used to validate the MDE technology,” DomainPower GM Paolo DiVincenzo said. “We hypothesized that we would we see an immediate increase in revenue due to domain clustering, and an even larger lift from optimization over longer periods of time.”
The domain portfolio used in the study – named Portfolio X – consisted of 9,873 domains with traffic from over 140 countries. Within the portfolio were more than 40 domain categories. At 7 days there was a 46% growth in revenue, an increase as a result of the MDE clustering of similar domains. At 14 days, there was an 84% revenue increase. At the conclusion of the test, revenue grew from $1,846.27 to $3,523.47 creating a 91% revenue lift thanks to the MDEs increased optimization.
